Progress Lifeline proudly revealed today that its Calderdale Home Responder Team has been announced as a finalist in the Unsung Wonders award category. The winner of each category; Wonder NHS, Unsung Wonder, Wonder Keyworker, Wonder Care Worker, and Wonder Fundraiser categories are solely decided by public vote.

Pulse 1 Radio, with Together Housing, launched the West Yorkshire Wonder Awards to showcase and recognise the exceptional work local keyworkers and first responders have achieved during the current situation.

The Calderdale team was nominated to acknowledge the amazing work the small, yet dedicated team is doing during COVID-19. They currently support 2,800 service users in the Calderdale area who are vulnerable or at risk of falls.

Mat Carter, Calderdale Team Leader, said, “I am delighted the team has been shortlisted for the Unsung Wonders award. They have all gone above and beyond the call of duty to ensure every home visit has been handled with such care, dignity, and warmth.

Mat continues to say, “Since lockdown started, we have attended over 800 call outs and lifted over 200 people. Sometimes, when a person is left on the floor for a long period, it can soon escalate to an emergency situation.”

Loraine Simpson, Service Director for Progress Lifeline added, “I am thrilled our response team in Calderdale has been nominated for this award, they truly are remarkable. They continue to provide the highest quality service to our customers, and their allegiance and dedication enable people to stay in their own homes to live independent lives.”
