Falls

Accidental falls are common amongst people of all ages, but older people are at a higher risk of falling, especially if they have existing health conditions.

Older people are more likely to fall as they have a higher risk of having one of the following:

  • Osteoporosis
  • Poor vision
  • Balance problems
  • Long-term health conditions

Around 1 in 3 adults over the age of 65 who live at home will have at least one fall a year. Around half of these will have falls on a more frequent basis.

Although most falls do not result in serious injury, there is a risk that a fall could lead to broken bones, or can cause a person to lose confidence.

How we can help

If you’ve had a fall or you feel your balance isn’t as good as it was, it’s natural to feel worried about falling. This can become a problem if it’s causing you to avoid certain activities, such as exercise, or leaving your home.

At Progress Lifeline, we provide products and services designed to offer peace of mind and reassurance.

Our falls reassurance package includes a fall detector, which will automatically send an alert to our alarm response centre when it senses a fall - no need to press a button or reach for a phone.

Alternatively you can use a standard personal lifeline alarm which by pressing a button (on a pendant or wristband) will alert our 24/7 alarm response centre who will get help on its way immediately.
